Strongholds

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (ESV)

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,

What are the strongholds that Paul is talking about in his letter to the church in Corinth? I believe that it’s the strongholds that our adversary has built in our hearts and minds. Yet Paul is telling us to take control of these strongholds, to take captive every thought contrary to God’s Word. How do we do this? Through obedience and using the weapons given to us by God! We have been redeemed by the Sacrificial blood shed by Jesus on Calvary’s Cross over 2000 years ago. We were justified and glorified when Jesus said ‘”It is Finished.” But our justification doesn’t mean that Satan gives up on us and walks away from our lives. On the contrary, his hatred for God and the redeemed is still very much in play today. In fact, he will continue to try and manipulate our minds against God until the day he is finally cast into the lake of fire.

Even though his fiery darts are shot at us consistently, Jesus has given us the tools to deflect those darts! How? By putting on the “WHOLE” armor of God. Put on and fasten the belt of truth, the truth of God’s word. Wear daily the breastplate of righteousness, not our righteousness, but Jesus’ which has been inputed to us. Put on that breastplate to protect you from satan’s fiery darts. Hold up your shield of faith which you can use to extinguish any flaming darts the enemy shoots at you. Wear your helmet of salvation and always remember remember that you are a child of God, and that your name has been engraved forever in the book of life. Use the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God to strengthen you and guide you in any and all battles against our adversary.

Remember, our weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but have divine power from our God to destroy any and all strongholds that the enemy has erected in our lives. Simply obey and use the tools God has given you to walk victoriously in this life. Maranatha, come quickly Lord Jesus!
